Maïté Baillieul is a Belgian artist based in Ghent. Seeking the limits which, either yesterday or today, seem difficult to define, an existential and poetic investigation weaves through her work, which seeks to tie reality and fiction in a particular way or even more so, makes the difference non-existent.

She obtained her MA in Fine Art at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent. Her graduation project resulted in a short film entitled Centra Peta Fuga, for which she attained a higher distinction and led to her selection for a range of exhibitions (i.e. Coming People, SMAK, Young Artists Selected by, Hans Martens). Ever since, Maïté has been continuously developing her art practice.

I look at something and realise that what I see no longer exists. My gaze is searching for the future of humanity, hidden in the images which, supplied by memory, disappear and never come back.
